1. Product Description

Copper Nickel Plate is a corrosion resistant copper‑nickel‑iron‑manganese alloy plate used in marine, desalination, and power generation applications. The alloy is available in two principal compositions: 90/10 CuNi (UNS C70600) and 70/30 CuNi (UNS C71500), as well as Chinese grades BFe10‑1‑1 and BFe30‑1‑1. The material derives its excellent seawater performance from a thin, stable, adherent protective oxide film that forms naturally upon exposure. Plates are manufactured by hot rolling (HR) for thicknesses ≥ 4 mm, and cold rolling (CR) for thinner gauges down to 0.3 mm. Standard tempers include annealed (soft), 1/4 hard, 1/2 hard, and full hard. Surface finishes comprise HR pickled, CR 2B bright, polished (#240, #400, #600), brushed (satin), and chequered (diamond or lentil pattern). All plates meet ASTM B171, ASME SB171, EN 1652, or GB/T 15272.

2. Product Applications

  • Seawater cooling systems for coastal power plants: Condenser waterbox liners, cooling tower distribution plates.

  • Offshore oil & gas (subsea): Umbilical termination assembly (UTA) plates, subsea control module (SCM) bases.

  • Shipbuilding – RO desalination units: High pressure pump base plates, energy recovery device housings.

  • Marine exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems: Cooler plates for EGR gas cooling before re‑entry.

  • Chemical processing (medium temperature): Plate coils for heating or cooling corrosive liquids in tanks.

  • Coastal architectural mesh: Perforated copper nickel plates for ventilation screens and sunshades.

3.Product Advantages

  • Resistance to velocity enhanced corrosion – Withstands flow velocities up to 3.0 m/s (C70600) and 4.0 m/s (C71500) without significant attack.

  • Low susceptibility to pitting and crevice attack – Passivation stable in seawater with chlorides up to 40,000 ppm.

  • Good weldability using SMAW, GTAW, GMAW – Filler metals AWS A5.7 ERCuNi (C70600) and ERCuNi-2 (C71500).

  • High resistance to bio‑settling – Minimizes operational disruption from organism growth.

  • Excellent thermal conductivity compared to austenitic stainless steels – Typically 2–3 times higher heat transfer coefficient.

  • Consistent mechanical properties across full plate size – No degradation of strength from edge to center.

  • Low maintenance cost over lifecycle – Reduces need for chemical cleaning and protective coatings.
